How Can Therapy Help Me?

Typically, clients begin therapeutic work because they may be dealing with a range of issues that interfere with normal day-to-day functioning at varying levels. For some, these may include difficult life transitions such as a separation/divorce, traumatic events, loss/grief, personal/relationship issues, academic/work-related issues, among many others.

Physical and emotional symptoms of these may present as high stress levels, various frustrations or anxieties, panic attacks, or episodes of depression or anger among others. These symptoms often decrease our overall quality of life and create an impact on healthy patterns of sleep, appetite, energy, motivation and relationships.

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in sessions we promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. Change often begins with one person, and one person can make all the difference.  No matter how long or brief your therapeutic journey may be, today you are one step closer to feeling more empowered and on a path to growth and well-being.

Our clinical team has been specifically selected based on their professional and life experiences, as well as the tools they hold to guide you through life’s challenges with the personalized attention, sincerity, respect and care that you deserve.

Hi, my name is Dr. Scott Zwolski Jr. I am a nationally certified school psychologist, and I also have a wealth of knowledge and experience in psychotherapy.  I received my graduate training through Loyola University Chicago, and obtained a doctorate in school psychology in 2019. I have worked primarily with children and adolescents ages 5-18, but enjoy working with adults as well. I have treated clients with a range of symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. Throughout my training and experience in the field, I have always been drawn to the Humanistic approach in which I listen to others’ stories with empathy, non-judgement, and support. I have also applied evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) including mindfulness, distress tolerance skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and emotion regulation skills.
